The Benefits

The AICS is over 25 years old. We are not just another networking organisation. Our role is to support the business of our members, to help them to provide their clients with a professional service. Associate membership is open to all independent computer specialists with sufficient experience and full membership only after a year or more of independent trading.

• Code of practice
  
  We have a code of practice that members are required to adhere to. This helps you convince prospective clients that you are a responsible supplier in business to provide a professional service. If things do go wrong, there is provision for mediation — although, fortunately, this is not often invoked.
  
  
• AICS logo
  
  Full and Corporate Members can use the AICS name and logo on letter heads, business cards and other promotional material. This can help you present a professional image.
  
  
• Networking by email
  
  We have a closed email group that allows any member to ask questions of other members, or provide a reply. Topics covered range from highly specific and technical queries, to questions about tax, insurance and general business matters. As a member you have access to the collective experience of other members in a wide range of subjects
  
  
• Quarterly Newsletters
  
  We publish a quarterly newsletter which contains information about AICS activities, as well as articles of technical and more general interest.
  
  
• Source of technical and business information
  
  If you are just starting up, or perhaps breaking away from the traditional contract market to the more open freelance one, it may help to talk to someone who is already established. Join AICS as an Associate Member and you will have the support of our many experienced members.
  All members have their own technical specialities. If you need advice in a speciality other than your own there will almost certainly be a member who can help you.
  
  
• Directory of Members' Services
  
  A Directory of Members is published in the members area of this website. There is also the facility to search for members online by speciality.
  
  
• Meetings
  
  We have a programme of regular meetings, currently every other month in central London. These meetings cover both technical and business topics, and also provide an opportunity for members to meet face-to-face.
  
  
• Discount on insurance
  
  We have an agreement with the insurance brokers HLI who provide a range of insurance services for both business and personal needs. AICS members are entitled to a discount on premiums.
